Monte Bondone, Settembre
Can you tell us about the production of “Monte Bondone, Settembre”, the work you will present during Helicotrema? When, where and on what occasion was it created?
Recorded on location on the slopes of Cima Verde, this piece is the late summer micro chorus of grasshoppers and allied insects singing in Alpine meadow grasses recorded in extreme close up.
You are one of the world’s leading recorders of wildlife and natural phenomena. Can you tell us about the importance of narrative within your work?
Nearly all my works contain a narrative time based element.
How did your work start, and what are your still unrealized projects?
My current project is to create a very large scale sound installation titled “Deep Blue Notes”. This will feature the sounds of our oceans and the song of the largest and loudest animal that has ever lived, the Blue whale.
